Chapter Philanthropy

In 2009, Alpha Xi Delta announced their partnership with Autism Speaks, and now plays a huge role in helping raise funds and awareness for those affected by autism spectrum disorders. Our chapter here at the University of Delaware is very involved with Autism Speaks. We regularly organize and participate in events aimed at raising money for the Autism Speaks organization, as well as promoting awareness and support.

Every year, our chapter hosts an Autism Speaks 5K in the spring held at UD, and volunteer at one in the fall in Philadelphia. These events allow us a way to raise money for Autism Speaks through participant registration fees and donations, as well as raffles for donated prizes and snack sales on the day of the event. Also, we provide fun activities such as face painting, making a handprints banner, a "selfie booth", and a keychain making station, which allows chapter members and 5K participants to interact in fun ways.

Our philanthropy events consist of “Xiti Night”, our annual all you can eat pasta night, this is held at the our chapter house! Football FrenXi, a football tournament played by both sororities and fraternities, each winning fraternity and sorority receives a portion of our proceeds to donate to their philanthropy. Lastly, Zumba was a joint philanthropy event with sigma phi epsilon, a sisters mom was the Zumba instructor. We had a great turn out and had a lot of fun!

Our sisters are so passionate about fundraising and each of our philanthropy events are planned with the intention of creating conversation about Autism Spectrum Disorders and to build a respectful community on campus. Our mission as Alpha Xi Deltas is to promote appropriate language about autism and encourage respect and acceptance on campus and in our everyday lives!
